Head Twist

Description

Hawks have 2 areas in the eye that are more sensitive to detail versus our 1. Their first one is directly in the back of the eye centered on the retina, similar to ours only more dense. The 2nd is the upper part of the retina. This allows them to see just as well below them as they see in front of them. This is just 1 more thing that helps them to be such efficient hunters. NOW, if there's something above them that they want to get a better look at (like another bird flying high above them), they'll twist their head upside-down so they utilize the more sensitive area of their retina. Simple... and simply awesome. (Thanks for demonstrating this, Isabeau!)
